About the catalogue
The research team at the Lviv Media Forum has compiled a catalog featuring more than 150 specialized AI-powered tools designed to make journalists’ work easier, saving both time and other resources.
Media professionals worldwide are increasingly turning to artificial intelligence in their daily work. This trend is confirmed by the Digital News Report 2024 from the Reuters Institute and Oxford University, which is based on surveys of nearly 100,000 people across 47 countries. The report highlights, among other things, the challenges journalists face when human-created content is replaced by AI-generated material. Still, artificial intelligence should not be seen only as a threat. It can also ease the burden of routine tasks such as transcribing audio into text, preparing visualizations, creating videos, and more.
According to research by the Institute of Mass Information, 22% of surveyed Ukrainian newsrooms already use AI tools in their work. Another 20% have not yet adopted AI — mostly due to a lack of specific knowledge about the tools themselves and their practical functions.

What artificial intelligence can do for journalists today:
Transcribe audio into text
Automatically generate headlines and summaries
Translate materials into multiple languages
Identify key topics in large data sets
Create graphics or visualize data
Edit photos, audio, or video
Find relevant sources or background information based on keywords
In this catalog, you’ll find AI tools grouped into four clusters:
Text-focused tools: generate, edit, summarize, fact-check, and more
Audio-focused tools: recognize speech, generate recordings, compose music, etc.
Visual-focused tools: create images, edit videos, visualize data
Multimedia tools: those that work across several formats (e.g., video + subtitles)
We view each section as a separate stage in creating an information product — from shaping the idea to its implementation and further promotion on media platforms. This approach makes it possible to structure the workflow regardless of format — text, audio, or video.
The suggested tools and methods can be useful in journalistic work, as they support the key stages of content creation:
Idea generation
Tools for topic generation, trend analysis, and media analytics help identify topics that are both relevant and meaningful for the audience.
Research and preparation
Databases, fact-checking services, and source verification tools support thorough information checks, material collection, and in-depth contextual analysis.
Content creation
Editorial platforms, visual content generators, and audio/video editing services make it possible to work across different material formats — from text pieces to multimedia projects.
Editing and refinement
Proofreading tools, stylistic analyzers, and text optimization services help make material clearer, more accurate, and aligned with journalistic standards.
Publication and promotion
Social media management platforms, analytics tools, and targeting services allow for effective content distribution and audience engagement.
Within the catalog, each application is filtered according to specific criteria, so users can quickly find the most convenient, accessible, and relevant tool for their needs. The filters take into account access model (free or paid), language support, level of technical complexity, and more.
